THE 5 STEP CINQ HIGH PERFORMANCE LEARNING PROCESS

The CinQ HPLP is based on the principles of action learning. CinQ is a challenging 5-person scenario which tests the participants ability to think creatively across a range of problems, collaborate and communicate effectively, take risks, make decisions and persevere when faced with failure.

Action learning requires a growth mindset where people believe you can learn through motivation, hard work and perseverance. Importantly, repeated failure is seen not as error but as an area for investigation, a learning milestone on the way to high performance. The CinQ esport scenario is built for repeated playthroughs.

The CinQ esports scenario is designed to enable teams to improve their capacity, to explore alternatives, cooperate, share information and make decisions, autonomously. CinQ has a coaching module to help teams assess and improve their performance and an achievement system to motivate and reward success. 1 STRATEGIZING

You receive a mission briefing document that requires interpretation, collaboration, planning, coordination, agreement and a communication plan.
The difficulty of the challenges make strategy a must-have and the team must demonstrate effective decision-making skills, in the allocation of tasks and the creation of a common purpose and plan.

2 EVALUATING

The level of difficulty designed in the game forces the participants to think creatively and use problem-solving skills to overcome the obstacles inherent in the game and pushes them to find the most skillful way that they can work together to achieve success.

3 COLLABORATING

There are 5 different characters with different functions, skill sets and objectives who are required to actively collaborate in order to solve CinQ’s 40 obstacles: drones, laser beams, color challenges, pressure plates, motion sensors, CCTV cameras, hacking, traversing ventilation and sewer systems.

4 EXECUTING

You must now put the plan into action, and it is a full-mission real test. It is not theoretical, you succeed or you fail. The CinQ pedagogical structure is based on 3 steps: engage, fail-forward and disrupt. Positive error introduces learning opportunities which force the team to face the obstacles and challenges with different approaches and modes of thinking. This is where the rubber meets the road. You cannot talk your way out of it, you have to “just do it”.

5 COACHING 360°

Filling in your own Team Scorecard at each play-through of CinQ will allow you to measure your team’s performance, and identify key skill gaps that you will need to address as a team.

You will also be given the opportunity to identify which skill group each member of the team excelled at. This will help you and others identify which skills you are making best use of, and help you share your experience with others to help each-other progress further and faster.

The history of Disruptive Learning Solutions starts with Computer Science Corporation, Royal Dutch Shell, Philips Design and Health Care, designing educational solutions using video game and online technologies to make a business impact.

The development of CinQ comes at the tail-end of 6 years of research and development with clients. Formerly known as The Heist, it was tested and evaluated by a range of companies. We experimented with using high-end computers and mobile and Oculus virtual reality in a workshop/classroom environment. Taking on-board our clients’ feedback, CinQ is now designed with their needs in mind: it can be played on almost all computers and is accessible locally and globally; it is a fully scalable educational solution.

As part of a plan to develop an antidote for The Circle’s “red pill”, Black Swan has tasked your team with stealing the drug’s secret formula from The Circle Inc.’s hidden underground laboratory.

Black Swan intel has lead to the discovery of a secret lab in the basement of The Circle Inc.’s research headquarters.

Black Swan recon teams have gathered intel: the team’s planner will get the building’s blueprints, information about security features and how to gain access to the CCTV network from within the Black Swan van. They will use all this information to collaborate with the team to help them retrieve the formula unnoticed.

The mobile command unit is operated by the Planner, giving them access to CCTV footage, a live map of each of the floors of the building and the location of all the team members.
At any time, team members can send the Planner document via uplink for analysis and decoding.

Having worked his way up the ranks in crisis management in the Circle organization he became disillusioned and fed up with the internal politics and infighting. By accident he discovered internal memos outlining the manufacturing of the red pill to destroy the innovation capabilities of competitive companies. He quietly left The Circle on medical leave and joined up with a band of corporate rebels to found Black Swan – an organization dedicated to creative thinking and freedom to innovate.

Over the years his identity and background have been kept secret allowing him the freedom to move in and out of The Circle and opposition government agencies.

His key skills in managing crises have made him a superb planner and coordinator though at times he suffers from tunnel vision and not able to see the big picture. But his dedication and motivation make up for this weakness especially when under pressure and his ability to recruit new players for black swan have made him legendary.

Trained as a top mathematician, chess expert and an cyber-security developer, he became very interested in Hacktivism and Hackers.

After being recruited by the planner, he started working for The Circle IT Department as a Black Swan agent. His major objective was to infiltrate their security system and discover their vulnerabilities. He discovered the building plans for a secret laboratory that held the formula for the red pill.

Having managed to communicate this information to Black Swan operatives he was captured by The Circle security team and tortured. He used his chess skill to outplay the circle security agents and feigned submissiveness and agreed to act as a double agent thus still pretending to work for black swan but passing their secrets back to the Circle.

On release he informed the Black swan team of his new status and thus became a triple agent passing dud information back to the Circle and incapacitating their counter Black Swan strategy.

A self-taught world class engineer he worked for international aid agencies in the Third World. His career progressed and took him all over the world working on behalf of “Habitat for Humanity” creating a reputation for best in class projects that resulted in major benefits and value for local inhabitants and partner organizations.

He came into direct confrontation with The Circle as they expanded their manufacturing sites across developing countries to take advantage of cheaper labor, natural resources and lack of regulation. Again, and again the Circle lawyers defeated any attempts to thwart their expansion into developed countries and used black book tricks such as corruption, threats and intimidation to ensure their success.

The final straw was when polluted water near a school was responsible for killing children and their families. He was then recruited by the planner, joined Black Swan and dedicated his skills to ensure the end of The Circle.

Groomed from an early age by her swiss parents, a banker and a lawyer, to be a doctor she rebelled at university and began to lead a double life as a circus acrobat. Having studied ballet at an early age, circus training became a natural fit for her fearlessness and need for adventure.

The hospital she worked for was taken over by the Circle Health Group and she became slowly aware that their strategy was to ensure control over large population groups through a pharmaceutical program of drugs ensuring obedience and submission to the will of The Circle. Her objections were noted by the Circle security team and when her circus activities were discovered she was sacked for behaviour unbecoming of a senior medical practitioner.

Through a contact at the circus she met the planner, joined black swan and has become a dedicated team member using her specialist acrobat skills to penetrate difficult zones in and around buildings thus bypassing high level security systems.

Brought up in the ghetto she intimately understood gangland culture and learnt very early how to read people and situations to ensure her survival. At school she was quickly drawn into a world of electronics and math that excited her and created a thirst to learn.

She then skillfully played two sides off at the same time. She succeeded in surviving the gang culture on her ghetto ensuring that no-one knew of her interests and ambition to become an engineer and that no-one at the night school she went to knew of her gang affiliations. Eventually qualifying she left the ghetto working freelance for major corporations and The Circle.

Following the rules of the game and doing the right thing were never her philosophy and she soon discovered that the corporate ambition of The Circle was to ensure obedience and subservience at all levels of society. She sought out resistance organizations to end the power of the Circle and after meeting the planner, eventually became associated with Black Swan, working for them on a freelance basis.

The Current Mission Gets 50% Bigger with the New Sewer Escape Sequence

The Circle Security team have intelligence that the Black Swan team will try to retrieve the secret formula for the Red Pill from the underground laboratory. If the research mainframe is tampered with in any way then The Circle security systems will go on high alert and the entire building will go on lock-down and all exits to and from the building will be closed off.

The Hacker has learnt of these new security protocols and the Planner has worked out a new escape route from the laboratory via the sewers to the river where a fast boat will be waiting for them. But as the Planner put it, they “will be flying blind” in the sewer because of the limited intel and so they will have to be ultra-careful to avoid the obstacles Circle Security may have placed there.
